This year, the harvest started earlier than usual, but let’s explore why.
The winter was cold, though not too harsh, and accompanied by abundant rainfall. Both spring and early summer, up until June, were also marked by heavy precipitation.
July brought variable weather, with alternating days of rain and periods of intense heat and sunshine.
August, on the other hand, was dominated by heat almost the entire month.
After a chilly spring, we anticipated a late harvest, but the summer heat pushed us to start early, with the first picking on August 16th, dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc.
The quality of this year’s grapes is expected to be exceptional, and if the weather cooperates, the harvest will continue until late October. However, the quantity is significantly reduced due to the high temperatures.
