The new scores of Vinous

We are pleased to announce that Eric Guido, renowned wine writer, has reviewed Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore wines in his latest tasting report on Friuli-Venezia Giulia for the specialized digital magazine Vinous.
COLLIO RIBOLLA GIALLA MARALBA 2021 MARCO FELLUGA – Crushed green apples, sage and a spritz of lime form a spicy green-tinged bouquet as the 2021 Ribolla Gialla Maralba opens in the glass. This soothes with its silky textures as a core of brisk acidity adds a reverberation of tension. The 2021 finishes with a tart twang of citrus and saline minerals while keeping the mouth watering for more. Drink the Maralba for its energy or cellar it over the short term to reveal further depths.
COLLIO PINOT GRIGIO MONGRIS 2021 MARCO FELLUGA – The 2021 Pinot Grigio Mongris is stunning, with a whiff of sweet smoke and stone dust that gives way to peach skins and mint. This is round, supple and lively throughout, with ripe orchard fruits complemented by candied lime. It leaves vanilla bean and almond paste nuances while leaving the palate completely refreshed.
COLLIO BIANCO MOLAMATTA 2017 MARCO FELLUGA – The 2017 Bianco Molamatta is seductive, with a rich mix of baked apples and pears accentuated by white flowers and almond custard. This is elegant, verging on opulent, but not quite, with oily textures hosting a mix of ripe tropical fruits. It finishes with admirable length and is spicy, leaving dried apricot and hazelnut notes to linger. The Molamatta is a blend of 40% Friulano, 40% Pinot Bianco and 20% Ribolla Gialla with extended lees aging that lasts up to a year.
COLLIO SAUVIGNON 2021 RUSSIZ SUPERIORE – A burst of zesty green citrus, sour melon and wild herbal tones introduce the 2021 Sauvignon. It opens with a pleasant inner sweetness complicated by salty minerality and a core of brilliant acidity that maintains fantastic energy throughout. This finishes tense, nearly crunchy in feel, with candied lime and rosemary nuances that create a sweet and sour sensation. I love the 2021s contrasting nature. Nicely done.
COLLIO SAUVIGNON RISERVA 2019 RUSSIZ SUPERIORE – Deeply floral and rich in the glass, the 2019 Sauvignon Riserva opens up with a spicy bouquet of sour melon and sweet exotic flowers offset by a whiff of lemon zest. This is pure class, refined, savory and mineral in style, nearly salty, with a twang of citrus-tinged acidity and tart orchard fruits that adds a lovely tension. The 2019 finishes staining and long, with a lingering concentration that puckers the cheeks, yet also promises many years of positive development. This is full of potential.
COLLIO CABERNET FRANC 2019 RUSSIZ SUPERIORE – The 2019 Cabernet Franc Collio entices with a uniquely spicy bouquet that evokes Indian curries, incense and pipe tobacco before revealing a core of crushed raspberry. This is like pure silk on the palate, yet with a stimulating thrust of acidity that motivates it tart wild berry fruits. Pepper-tinged inner florals and saline minerality are left to mingle through the finale, as the 2019 finishes lightly structured and distinctly savory. This is Patience will be necessary.
