“Collio: that crescent-shaped land of resilient people, virtuous wines, and shifting borders” is the evocative portrait by Umberto Gambino for WineReporter.
A land on the border between Italy and Slovenia, made up of rolling hills, deep-rooted traditions, and a close-knit community: “Collio itself is a family,” explains David Buzzinelli, president of the Consortium.
Here, our vines sink their roots into a unique soil called ponca – a marine sediment from prehistoric seas – capable of enhancing the freshness, structure, and intensity of Friulian white wines.
“It is essential that the previous generation passes down its values, but the next generation must be genuinely passionate and willing to carry on the path the family began many years ago,” reflects Ilaria Felluga, underlining the importance of a thoughtful and committed generational transition.
