The name Mongris originates from the combination of two words: “monovitigno” (single-varietal) and “gris”, which means “gray” in Friulian.<\/p>\n

A variety cultivated in the Collio region since the mid-1800s, Pinot Grigio reaches its highest qualitative expression in our denomination.<\/p>\n

Type of soil<\/h3>\n

The Collio\u2019s hilly terrain, formed during the Eocene period, consists of layers of sandstone and loam rock (limestone and clay) that were once part of the ocean floor. The resulting soil is impermeable, so rainwater flows off its surface, producing little erosion and preventing stagnant water.<\/p>\n

Vinification<\/h3>\n

After destemming, the must and pulp undergo a cold maceration, followed by a gentle pressing to separate the grapes from the skins. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine thus obtained is left to refine six months on the lees before being bottled, and then some more months in the bottle.<\/p>\n

Characteristics<\/h3>\n

Golden yellow color with copper hints. It has an intense aroma with pronounced hints of acacia flower, broom and apple. It has an elegant, fruity, full-bodied and structured taste. It has a long finish.<\/p>\n
