“Ilaria’s decision came earlier than expected, but it had never been in doubt. A sixth-generation winemaker, the young Felluga, born in 1995, was determined to carry forward her family’s two wineries in the Collio region of Friuli, in the Gorizia province: Russiz Superiore and Marco Felluga. Fate intervened when, at just 26 yeurs old, following the untimely passing of her father Roberto, she suddenly found herself at the head of both estates. But she was more than ready to take on the challenge. Not only had she studied Viticulture and Enology at the University of Udine, but she had also spent years working closely with her grandfather and father, learning both the family craft and their vision, that is, to bring out the very best of Collio in every glass, always safeguarding the land, its vines and biodiversity. Her family’s key intuition was betting on Friulian white wines, recognizing their potential for aging. At Casa Felluga, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, and Sauvignon are built to last, developing remarkable complexity without losing their signature freshness – making them perfect for food pairings. Recently, Ilaria has chosen to focus more on native grape varieties like Ribolla Gialla and Refosco, creating single-varietal wines. She now has a Malvasia-based project in the works as well as exploring new international markets.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
