It’s round and enveloping with a stimulating core of zesty green citrus and brisk acids that create wonderful contrasts. This leaves the palate buzzing with residual tension, while tapering off long, spicy and perfumed.

Collio Cabernet Franc 2018 Russiz Superiore:

The 2018 Cabernet Franc makes a grand entrance, enticing the senses with a bouquet of crushed raspberries, cracked black pepper, wild herbs and a hint of cocoa. It impresses further with its energetic feel, coupling cool-toned acids with saline-tinged red berries and a zesty twang of citrus. Waxy rose, licorice and sweet spice linger impossibly long through the perfumed and seemingly endless finale. The 2018 is a balanced pleasure bomb of a Cabernet Franc, which should be enjoyed over the next three to five years.

Collio Sauvignon Riserva 2017 Russiz Superiore:

There’s something distinctly tropical about the 2017 Sauvignon Riserva, as masses of spiced yellow and green citrus give way to young mango and sour melon. This is deeply textural but not weighty in feel, as a mix of saline-tinged acids and a grapefruit rind concentration build tension. The 2017 leaves the palate fresh, yet tapers off a bit short, with pretty inner florals that linger. The warmth of the vintage does show here, yet balance is maintained.

Collio Pinot Grigio 2020 Russiz Superiore:

Crushed yellow apples and chamomille are nicely contrasted by candied lemon and hints of wet stone as the 2020 Pinot Grigio comes to life in the glass. This is soft upon entry, with a burst of sour citrus that creates a reverberation of tension, as notes of young peach and pear evolve toward the close. It leaves a salty flourish to linger while finishing long with a hint of lime. This is head and shoulders above your average Pinot Grigio.

Full article here.

We’re glad to announce that Eric Guido featured Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore in his most recent tasting report for Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
